Job Summary The Director of Communications and Philanthropic Engagement leads efforts to share the Foundation’s story, strengthen community connections, and inspire generosity in support of its mission. This role brings together communications, marketing, and donor engagement to build awareness, deepen relationships, and grow philanthropic support across the Sarasota community. The Director guides community and donor engagement activities, ensuring that events and initiatives reflect the Foundation’s mission while achieving fundraising goals. Oversee signature events, donor stewardship, and corporate giving, fostering lasting relationships with donors, partners, and sponsors. Collaborates closely with Foundation staff, hospital leaders, Foundation board members, volunteers, and community partners to help align all engagement efforts to advance the Foundation’s vision and impact. This leader models positivity, teamwork, and purpose in every interaction, strengthening the Foundation’s presence and connection to those it serves. In this role, the leader sets the tone and models positive leadership behavior, while ensuring department and division projects and responsibilities are completed successfully in support of organizational goals.
Required Qualifications
Require a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
Require seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressive experience in communications, fundraising, marketing, special event production, related experience or equivalent combination including demonstrated success in non‑profit management and special event production.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer excellent communication skills, orally and written, especially grammar, and have knowledge in using computer programs such as Raiser’s Edge and Microsoft Office.
Prefer the ability to subscribe to the AHP, AFP Standards of Ethics and the Donor Bill of Rights and have integrity, intelligence, a passion for funding, high energy level and ability to work as a team player.
Prefer the ability to organize, motivate and garner philanthropic support.
Prefer ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
Prefer ability to work with a high level of initiative in a deadline‑orientated team environment.
Prefer the ability to think ahead and plan over one (1) to three (3) year time span.
