Sales Director

to lead and expand PGI’s commercial footprint while supporting our commitment to transparency, ethical sourcing, and exceptional customer service.

Position Overview The Sales Director is responsible for developing and executing PGI’s commercial strategy, expanding market share, and leading a high-performing sales organization. This role oversees key and strategic accounts, drives new customer acquisition, builds long-term partner relationships, and ensures cross-functional alignment to achieve revenue growth across food, beverage, supplement, and CPG sectors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Sales Leadership

Develop and execute PGI’s annual sales strategy, aligned with company revenue and margin goals.

Forecast sales performance, identify risk, and develop contingency plans.

Lead pricing strategy, contract negotiations, and category positioning.

Team Leadership & Development

Manage and mentor sales and customer success team members.

Establish clear sales pipelines, coaching rhythms, KPIs, and performance expectations.

Recruit, onboard, and develop future sales talent as the team grows.

Key Account & Partnership Management

Oversee relationships with PGI’s top-tier customers, including national food manufacturers, co-packers, spice and tea brands, and supplement producers.

Strengthen relationships at multiple levels (procurement, R&D, QA, leadership).

Expand share of wallet through upsell, cross‑sell, new formats, and category extensions.

New Business Expansion

Identify high‑potential markets and segments aligned with PGI’s capabilities.

Drive new‑logo acquisition through targeted outreach, trade shows, and outbound campaigns.

Partner with marketing to develop messaging, collateral, and trade activities.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Partner closely with production, QA, regulatory, and supply chain to ensure customer expectations are met.

Work with Purchasing on demand forecasting and inventory alignment.

Lead communication on customer requirements, trends, and performance to leadership.

Reporting & Business Performance

Own monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets.

Deliver accurate reporting on pipeline, forecast, margins, and account health.

Analyze customer data to drive profitability, retention, and category growth.

Total revenue growth (YoY)

Gross margin improvement by customer / segment

New customer acquisition and segment penetration

Strategic account retention and expansion

Team performance & CRM discipline

7+ years in B2B sales, ideally selling ingredients, food manufacturing, or CPG supply chain

Leadership experience managing sales teams or key national accounts

Strong negotiation and contract management skills

Demonstrated ability to build multi‑level relationships with R&D, procurement, and QA teams

Data‑driven decision maker; comfortable with CRM tools and reporting

PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES

Passion for organic, clean‑label, and sustainability‑driven businesses

Prior work with co‑manufacturers or private label producers

Trade show experience (IFT, Natural Products Expo West, SupplySide West, etc.)
