Where is the work:

This position will be located in Davidson, NC and the individual will work our Standard Schedule- 4 days in office, 1-day flexible work location.

In-Office Days: Onsite Monday to Thursday engaging with your colleagues.

Flexible Location Day: On Fridays enjoy the flexibility to work from a location that best suits your productivity and personal needs.

Reporting to the Vice President, Integrated Supply Chain, the Residential HVAC & Thermo King strategic business units (SBU), the Quality Leader, Residential and Thermo King will support our cultural transformation as Trane Technologies aligned to innovating for our customers, building a world class lean enterprise and uplifting our people, culture and communities. This key leadership role is responsible for establishing continuous improvement programs for the company related to product quality, defining and implementing world‑class quality systems and processes, and partnering with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Product Management, Sales, Service and Operational Excellence to solve and prevent quality related problems internally and with customers.

This position oversees all quality and reliability initiatives, managing teams both directly and in a matrix structure. The Quality Leader communicates goals and expectations to the organization while providing positive motivation to the related teams, with a drive to reduce the cost of quality and drive a “Zero Quality Defect” mindset through utilization of our Business Operating System.

Responsibilities:

Create an exceptionally talented and robust organization through transformational change and cross‑functional alignment to ensure product quality and reliability while working to reduce the cost of quality.

Support Trane initiatives related to Quality Compliance policy and regulatory compliance strategies and ensure compliance at all Parts locations and suppliers. Lead and guide the safety council and manage any NHTSA requirements for the organization.

Drive a proactive Quality team where everyone clearly understands their role and connection to strategy. Articulate goals and expectations and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. Provide positive motivation and increase customer awareness to drive a “Zero Quality Defect” mindset.

Communicate status on high level KPI’s and metrics. Examples include ICQ DPPM, DPPM, Voice of Customer, and COPQ. Ability to present in a concise manner leadership KPI’s and status of quality focusing on the customer while managing/maintaining key Business metrics.

Strategize and collaborate with other departments to ensure timely completion of all objectives and milestones, including Manufacturing, Supply Chain,Engineering, Product Management, and Operational Excellence.

Drive risk analysis and develop solutions to a variety of complex problems.

Actively participates in the Enterprise Quality Council; develops, implements, supports and follows corporate quality policies, processes, and procedures.

Serves as an escalation point for plant quality team when they cannot resolve quality issues effectively or efficiently.

Scopes out projects and problems; set objectives and goals; breaks down large complex issues into process steps; anticipates and modifies actions to close gaps, measure performance against goals; and evaluates results.

Travel - up to 50%.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree is required; master’s degree is preferred

15 years of experience in various functions of quality management, program and project management in a design, engineering or manufacturing environment.

Professional certification (CPM, APICS, Six Sigma, CQM, PE, etc.) is preferred

Demonstrated strong leadership and applied knowledge in: AQP, , PPAP, A3 thinking, FMEA and Control Plan, SPC, Financial Metric Management (COPQ, CPU, etc…)

5 - 7 years of experience leading a team of individuals

Experience in quality management, operations, lean manufacturing processes including visual management

Excellent interpersonal skills, mentor, team player including professional customer and supplier interaction capability

Ability to communicate with upper leadership in a concise manner
