Responsibilities
Develop testing methods and workstations used in the development of OCS systems.
Develop the testing methods and workstations used in the manufacturing of OCS systems.
Oversee the implementation of the testing you have developed
Take responsibility for the effectiveness, cost, and throughput of the OCS testing
This testing includes both front end (OCS Engine) and backend (OCS Chassis) testing.
Technical Leadership
Work with hardware, ASIC, photonics, firmware, and software teams to deliver cohesive system test solutions.
Lead design and architecture reviews to ensure robust and manufacturable test systems.
Manage the personnel necessary to develop testing and perform such testing in development and manufacturing.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with product management to translate customer and datacenter requirements into testing specifications.
Partner with operations and manufacturing teams to ensure scalability and quality of optical hardware.
Support customer engagement teams with technical deep-dives and testing overviews.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics/Photonics, or related field.
Sufficient experience in optical networking, photonic systems, or large‑scale network/system architecture.
Strong understanding of optical circuit switching technologies, optical components (lasers, modulators, WSS, MEMS, silicon photonics), and fiber interconnects.
Proficiency in system design for high‑bandwidth, low‑latency, and energy‑efficient interconnect architectures.
Skills
Experience with Liquid Crystal‑based OCS designs.
Experience in testing OCS systems and in creating new test methodologies and equipment.
Understanding of firmware/embedded systems, hardware bring‑up, and optical test equipment.
Ability to collaborate across highly specialized hardware, software, and photonics teams.
Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
Strong analytical and problem‑resolution skills, especially in complex interdisciplinary systems.
Working Conditions
This position is on‑site in Sunnyvale, California
May require occasional off‑site meetings or travel, including to China
Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary
Interaction with team members and external contacts is a regular part of the job
May require occasional overtime and flexibility in work hours to accommodate the executive’s needs
Physical Requirements
Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or conducting meetings.
Use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
Ability to work in a cleanroom in appropriate cleanroom attire.
Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Mobility within the office environment to attend meetings or interact with colleagues.
Safety Requirements All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.
