Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator with a strong background in paving and asphalt work to join our team. This position is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive estimates for asphalt paving, milling, and grading for site-work projects. NCDOT and Municipality estimating a plus. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and understands the production, materials, and pricing that drive profitable paving operations.

Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates for asphalt paving, milling, patching, and related site-work projects Review and interpret plans, specifications, and bid documents Perform quantity takeoffs for paving, base, grading, and related scopes Solicit and analyze subcontractor and material pricing Develop unit pricing and job-specific pricing based on production rates and historical data Work closely with project managers and field personnel to validate scope, means, and methods Identify potential risks, omissions, and value-engineering opportunities in bid documents Maintain organized bid files, takeoffs, and pricing records Assist with post-bid reviews and project handoff to operations
Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of construction estimating experience, with a strong emphasis on asphalt paving Working knowledge of paving operations, materials, and production rates Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans and specifications Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills xsgimln Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital takeoff tools Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment Experience with DOT, municipal, or commercial paving projects preferred
