Phlebotomist Ii

The primary role of a phlebotomist ii is to support various duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and recommend workflow improvements. Responsibilities include performing blood draws and labeling specimens accurately, centrifuging specimens and recording maintenance data, decontaminating equipment and updating patient information, collecting and storing specimens following established protocols, clearly explaining the venipuncture process and other specimen collections to patients, demonstrating techniques using straight and butterfly needles, understanding and adhering to all physicians' orders, matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required by test orders, verifying all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy, packaging specimens for transport and storing them at required temperatures, placing samples in appropriate collection containers and labeling them accurately, following specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport, complying with osha and dep regulations, attending annual departmental training sessions, and answering telephone inquiries and providing laboratory results when needed.

Essential skills include phlebotomy, blood draw, venipuncture, phlebotomy certification, laboratory processing, and drawing blood. Additional skills and qualifications include valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, proficiency with microsoft office suite, high school diploma or ged, and 2-4 years of experience.

the schedule is from 8am to 6pm monday to friday, with rotating saturdays from 9am to 1pm. this is a contract to hire position based out of elgin, il. the pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr. eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms. if eligible, the benefits available for this temporary role may include the following: medical, dental & vision, critical illness, accident, and hospital, 401(k) retirement plan pre-tax and roth post-tax contributions available, life insurance (voluntary life & ad&d for the employee and dependents), short and long-term disability, health spending account (hsa), transportation benefits, employee assistance program, and time off/leave (pto, vacation or sick leave).
