City of Concord is hiring: Solid Waste Crew Supervisor in Concord

Overview The purpose of this position is to provide daily oversight and supervision of a line of service for solid waste operations, oversee solid waste personnel, and provide a high level of customer service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Investigates and confirms City staff’s collection service deliveries. Plans, initiates and monitors City staff’s daily activities. Ensures all equipment is properly maintained by staff and that all safety procedures are followed. Observes, documents, and evaluates City staff performance. Operates equipment in support of daily collection activities as needed for continuity of service schedules. Oversees and executes customer service activities and initiatives. Supplemental Functions Performs other similar duties as required. Job Specifications and Qualifications Knowledge Operating heavy equipment and hand and power tools Solid waste and recycling collection principles and practices Applicable local, state and federal laws, rules, and regulations Budgetary principles Licensing and Certifications Valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver’s License PLEASE NOTE: Applicants must meet the City's criteria for an acceptable driving record. Working Conditions / Physical Requirements Positions in this class require: standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, carrying, sitting, reaching, handling, kneeling, pushing/pulling, climbing, vision, foot controls, balancing, bending, crouching, hearing, twisting, talking. Heavy Work: Exerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 25 -50 pounds frequently, or from 10 up to 20 pounds constantly.
