Summer School Intake & Assessment / Independent Studies Teacher The teacher will perform diagnostic assessments and assist in the development of education plans for students at the St. Mary’s Catholic Learning Centre – Satellite Campus. The teacher will also assist students in the development of literacy and numeracy skills and prepare students to start credit bearing classes at the facility. The classes could contain students from Grades 9-12 and the students could be studying at any level of the Ontario curriculum. The teacher will work as part of a team at the St. Mary’s Catholic Learning Centre – Satellite Campus to meet the individual needs of the students.

Program Dates: June 29, 2026 to July 31, 2026

Qualifications:

Basic*: Any Intermediate/Senior; Special Education, Part 2 and Guidance & Careers, Part 1

Additional: Special Education, Specialist (preferred)

Experience: Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience

Other: Demonstrated ability to implement individualized programming both in terms of content and instructional strategies based on the diagnosed needs of the individual student; Superior communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; Strong understanding of Differentiated Instruction, curriculum development and assessment/evaluation practices; Demonstrated understanding of effective assessment practices (e.g. Growing Success); and Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.

*An applicant must hold the Basic Qualifications at time of their application to be considered for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities: The teacher will be responsible for diagnosing the educational needs of students transitioning into a secure custody facility and assisting in the implementing of their Student Education Plan.
