What You'll Do as a Maintenance Repair Worker 2

Performs maintenance, replacement, installation & repair of electrical and plumbing equipment. Performs carpentry work involving maintenance, alteration &/or repair of buildings, equipment & wood structures. Performs basic painting. Operates state vehicle to transport various equipment, tools, parts, materials & supplies to various locations throughout the state or to transport vehicle to dealership for service or repair. Performs minor custodial duties. Performs general exterior grounds keeping duties. Performs minor maintenance on Division vehicles.

Qualifications

Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary; AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in maintenance repair work (e.g ., basic electricity, plumbing, carpentry, masonry repair & use of associated hand & power tools & equipment) AND Valid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated licensure. POSITION SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires valid driver license to operate state vehicle

Supplemental Information UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS

May work evening shift; may be exposed to high & low temperatures; may be exposed to weather. This position is essential, meaning the duties this job performs are critical to the continued operations of the Ohio Department of Public Safety during a public safety emergency (OAC 123: 1-46-01 & DAS Directive HR-D-11). This position will be required to report for duty during any public safety emergency.

Background Check Information

A BCI and FBI fingerprint check, a background check, including a polygraph examination, may be required on all selected applicants. A comparative analysis and/or drug-test may be a requirement of the hiring process. This position is subject to Federal Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) regulations that prohibit someone to carry, transport, or otherwise possess firearm(s) and/or ammunition from consuming marijuana, including medical marijuana. Medical marijuana is prohibited as a valid medical explanation for a positive drug test for final applicants in this position.
