Morehead City is seeking a skilled and highly organized SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT to join our team.
This position plays a vital role in providing professional administrative support to public services departmental staff, managing daily office operations, and ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of information within the department. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. This role operates under the limited supervision of the assigned department supervisor.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
The ideal candidate will have:
Thorough knowledge of general administrative policies, departmental procedures, and organizational functions.
Comprehensive understanding of modern office practices, systems, and computer applications.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
Ability to prepare reports and correspondence independently and handle office management duties with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other standard business software; experience with specialized systems preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working effectively with associates, elected officials, other agencies, and the public.
Ability to read and interpret complex materials, including regulatory or legal documents.
Proven reliability, discretion, and professionalism when handling confidential information.
Education and experience requirements:
High school diploma or GED required; one to three years of experience in office management, administration, or a related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Special requirements:
Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Possession of a Notary Public license preferred.
The salary range for this position is $49,934 – $69,908, and placement within the range will depend on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. The City offers a comprehensive benefits package, which can be found online at https://www.moreheadcitync.org/246/Employee-Benefits
