prekindergarten teacher
plays a vital role in laying the foundation for lifelong learning. The ideal candidate is a warm, reflective, and collaborative educator who is deeply committed to early childhood development and to the School’s mission to know, value, and challenge each student; build a diverse and inclusive community; and graduate independent thinkers and globally aware citizens.
The prekindergarten teacher creates a nurturing, developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports students’ social-emotional growth, curiosity, independence and emerging academic skills.
Position Duties Include:
Design and implement a developmentally appropriate, play-based and inquiry-driven curriculum aligned with best practices in early childhood education
Create a classroom environment in which each child is known, valued and challenged, supporting social-emotional growth, self-regulation and positive relationships
Plan and deliver instruction using whole-group, small-group and one-on-one formats
Observe, document and assess student growth using a range of formal and informal tools
Use technology effectively to enhance instruction and learning outcomes, including delivering live remote instruction, if necessary, through platforms such as Zoom and Google Classroom
Communicate regularly and effectively with families regarding student progress, classroom experiences and developmental milestones
Collaborate professionally with grade‑level team, colleagues and administrators
Model curiosity, kindness, respect and a growth mindset
Purposefully design curriculum and classroom practices that reflect and support the school’s commitment to diversity, inclusion and belonging
Ensure the supervision, safety and well‑being of children throughout the day, including arrival, recess, lunch and dismissal
Participate fully in school life, including faculty meetings, professional development, licensing‑related training and community events
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
Ability to perform the physical activities required to support young children throughout the day, including standing and walking for extended periods; moving about the classroom and outdoor spaces; climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling and reaching; and safely lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling materials and equipment.
