Position Summary:
The Custodian will help keep residential and office spaces clean and safe. They will clean areas like floors, windows, restrooms, and offices by sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing. The custodian will also manage cleaning supplies, handle waste properly, and report any maintenance issues. This person should be comfortable working with a diverse group of people, including youth and other employees. The custodian's work will help create a clean, safe, and pleasant environment for all who use the building.
Responsibilities
Perform general custodial duties to maintain cleanliness and orderliness of assigned areas
Clean and sanitize restrooms, including replenishing supplies
Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors
Dust and wipe down surfaces
Empty trash receptacles and replace liners
Clean windows and glass surfaces
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and fixing minor plumbing issues
Follow established cleaning procedures and safety guidelines
Adhere to any specific cleaning requirements or protocols for specialized areas (e.g., laboratories, healthcare facilities)
Requirements Education
High School Diploma or GED
required
Experience
6 months - 1 year of experience in facilities maintenance or commercial cleaning
required
Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and use of cleaning equipment
Familiarity with floor care, including buffing and waxing
Driver's Licensed with the ability to maintain insurance throughout employment
required .
