About the Role Priority Groups is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic
American Sign Language (ASL) Instructor
to join our team in New Jersey. We are looking for an educator with strong ASL proficiency, a deep understanding of Deaf culture, and the ability to create engaging, inclusive learning experiences for students at all levels.
As an ASL Instructor, you will design and deliver lessons, assess student progress, and promote awareness of Deaf culture while fostering a positive and respectful classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
Teach ASL to students at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to diverse learning needs.
Monitor and evaluate student progress; provide constructive feedback.
Foster awareness and appreciation of Deaf culture and community.
Create and maintain an inclusive, supportive, and respectful learning environment.
Collaborate with Priority Groups staff to support program success.
Qualifications
Proficiency in American Sign Language with strong English communication skills.
Prior experience teaching ASL in academic or community settings.
Solid knowledge of Deaf culture and inclusive education practices.
RID certification, teaching credentials, or equivalent certifications (preferred, not required).
Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
Compensation & Schedule
Pay Rate:
$75–$80 per hour
Sessions:
Minimum of 2 hours per session
