Perform highway maintenance activities including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter removal, and mowing. Contribute to snow and ice operations. Attend training to obtain CDL licensure if not already licensed. Serve the public and work to make Ohio roads safer. Qualifications

Highway Maintenance Worker 1:

Formal education in arithmetic (addition/subtraction) and in reading, writing, and speaking common English; must obtain Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement and without airbrake restriction within six (6) months of permanent hire date. Highway Technician 1:

Formal education in arithmetic (addition/subtraction, decimals, percentages, fractions) and ability to read, write, and speak common English; 3 months training or 3 months experience in operation of basic equipment; valid Class B CDL with tanker endorsement and without airbrake restriction. You will serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer. You will attend training to obtain CDL licensure if not already licensed. Additional Information

All answers to supplemental questions must be supported by the work experience/education provided on your civil service application. This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA standards. All bargaining unit new hires must serve a one-year probationary period. The final candidate will undergo a criminal background check; an individual assessment of prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration. Final applicants must submit to urinalysis for illegal drug use prior to appointments. A positive test will disqualify employment. This position is subject to federal testing regulations under 49 CFR Part 40 and Part 382, and medical marijuana is prohibited for final applicants.
