What We're Looking For PEAKE is looking for capable Network Installation Technicians, experienced in the installation of CAT 6 and Fiber Optic structured cable distribution systems, to join an on-site installation team at China Lake, CA. You'll collaborate with network designers, engineers, and other install technicians to carry out key tasks and support the overall network infrastructure.

The right candidates can terminate Ethernet and fiber cables using various methods, are familiar with connector types and manufacturers, and are experienced in testing and troubleshooting fiber optic installations using Fluke and OTDR testing.

You should also have expertise in cable pulling, fire stopping, cable dressing, and labeling according to industry standards.

Work Location & Schedule This position follows a rotating travel schedule.

Spend 6–10 weeks working onsite at China Lake, CA, followed by time off at home to rest and recharge

All travel and onsite accommodation expenses fully covered

Daily per diem allowance for meals and incidental expenses (tax-free when aligned with GSA rates and typically tax-free when aligned with federal travel guidelines)

Clearance Requirement

DoD Secret clearance required

What You’ll Need to Succeed: Technical Skills Required Qualifications:

2–4 years of relevant experience in:

CAT6 and fiber optic structured cable distribution system installation

Terminating all forms of Ethernet and fiber using various methods; familiarity with connector types and manufacturers

Testing single-mode and multi-mode fiber installations; experience with Fluke and OTDR testing and fiber optic troubleshooting

Pulling cable, fire stopping, dressing cables, and labeling in accordance with industry standards

Experience with fiber characterization testing and issue resolution

Skilled in installing, terminating, and testing copper and fiber cabling

Installing closet hardware, including backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures

Regularly attending safety and training meetings; maintaining safe work practices at all times

Familiarity with DISA installation procedures and operational guidelines (e.g., NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, CENTRIX)

Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including:

Maneuvering throughout buildings (e.g., communications closets)

Prolonged standing, repetitive bending, climbing

Lifting up to 50 lbs

Preferred Qualifications:

Security+ certification (preferred but not required)

BICSI Installer or Technician or Cisco certification(s) preferred

Experience as a fiber optic specialist

Applicable software or hardware training and certifications aligned with technical objectives, services required, and IT environments
