The Litigation Paralegal is a full‑time, professional position responsible for supporting the firm’s Personal Injury/Litigation Attorneys. This position involves handling various responsibilities associated with intakes, case assignments, and assisting with trial preparation in general, commercial, personal injury, and potentially medical malpractice cases.
$21-$29/hour
We are seeking a highly organized and detail‑oriented Litigation Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive support to the firm's Personal Injury and Litigation Attorneys in our Ithaca Office location. This role requires strong document management and administrative skills to assist attorneys with intakes, managing legal documents, case progression, and trial preparation. The Litigation Paralegal will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of legal processes and supporting the firm's commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform administrative duties such as conducting intakes, conflict checks, calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, and manage other logistics.
Drafting discovery demands, responses, motions and various insurance reporting documents, preparation of settlement demand letters and SUM arbitration matters, and other related tasks as assigned by the attorney.
Assist attorneys with numerous aspects of trial preparation which may include: locating, researching and identifying expert witnesses, background subpoenas, arranging witnesses, assembly of records for trial, exhibits needed at trial, summarize witness testimony, etc.
Obtain, organize, integrate, highlight and tab relevant records in binders and create record index.
Assist attorneys with similar duties including ordering and/or review of medical records, radiology studies, and any other collateral source documentation, and preparation of medical summaries.
Legal and internet research on parties and expert witnesses.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor or Associate’s degree, preferably in Paralegal or related studies, or an accredited Paralegal Certificate, or relevant Litigation experience.
Computer proficiency including experience with software applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook. Comfortability with, and ability to learn, other software applications.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, due to extensive contact with clients, attorneys, courts, government agencies and many others.
Precise attention to detail and efficient record‑keeping required.
Ability to handle large, fast‑paced volume of work.
Ability to lift up to ten pounds.
Ability to remain in a stationary position while at a desk; to move about the office as needed for meetings or the retrieval of files/documents.
Ability to commute to the Ithaca Office location.
