Duties and Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music education
Teach additional music courses if aligned with candidate experience and departmental need
Serve as primary departmental liaison to the PSU College of Education
Foster relationships with regional music educators
Participate actively in the recruitment of undergraduate and graduate students
Required Education and Experience
Master's degree in music, music education, or related
Demonstrated excellence in scholarship and/or creative activity
One or more years' teaching as an adjunct, graduate assistant, or faculty member at the collegiate level
Candidate's must hold a master's degree in music discipline or related field. This degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.
Preferred Experience
Doctorate degree in music, music education, or related
One or more years' experience in secondary-education teaching
One or more years' teaching in the area of choral music education
