Purpose Statement / Position Summary This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The employee shall support Saddleback Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities.

The Buyer position purchases merchandise and coordinates inventory for the medical center gift shops while meeting budgetary requirements of the department. This position is responsible for maintaining smooth day‑to‑day functions of the gift shop. The incumbent will create attractive displays in the gift shops. Under the direction of the Director, performs accurate recordkeeping, ordering, and tracking for the department. This position provides assistance with general clerical support functions. This includes answering phone calls, communicating with internal and external customers, filing, organizing, and completing special projects.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

Maintains accurate record keeping relating to inventory and reporting.

Coordinates end to end ordering of merchandise for the gift shops.

Demonstrates the ability to work with various vendors to provide input and feedback on a wide range of products.

Creates purchase orders in the electronic system.

Creates attractive displays in the gift shops.

Provides administrative support for the Director and gift shop department.

Displays excellent customer service skills with internal and external customers and contacts.

Ability to be at work and on time.

Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives.

Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.

Ability to prioritize and multitask.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Experience

Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

2 years of experience within hospital gift shops preferred.

Experienced with Microsoft Office Applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
