Position Highlights The Genetic Counseling Graduate Program is seeking one or two qualified candidates for a non-tenure track Adjunct Assistant Professor of Practice position. The ideal candidate(s) will have training and experience in genetic counseling and be prepared to teach both introductory and advanced coursework. Courses may include, but are not limited to, Introduction to Genetic Counseling and Professional Issues in Genetic Counseling.

Duties & Responsibilities
Teach one, 2 credit class per Fall semester.
Teach one, 2 credit class per Spring semester.
Participate in annual review of course curriculum and program.
Participate in continuing education/training for course design, course instruction, teaching methods, and other trainings as determined by the UAGCGP.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of, understanding of, and ability to teach on the topics related to genetic counseling.
Skill in counseling and risk communication techniques.
Knowledge and application of the principles of health literacy and inclusive excellence.
Understanding of and contribution to the department's teaching mission.
Possess and use strong written and verbal communication skills including public speaking, the ability to draft instructional documents, and the ability to work and interact effectively with all audiences.
Ability to work cooperatively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators across a variety of units in a complex academic environment.
Plan and achieve short- and long-term goals driven by the mission and goals of the graduate programs.
Possess and use strong organizational skills, problem solving abilities and abilities to maintain discretion and diplomacy toward sensitive and confidential information.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in the field of human genetics or genetic counseling
ABGC board certified or board eligible genetic counselor
Strong clinical or industry experience
Desire to teach at the graduate level
Willing to obtain state license when applicable
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in developing genetic counseling classes and/or curriculum design.
Experience with D2L.
