Job Description As the Senior Specialist, Systems Integration Engineer in Ashburn, you will be responsible for providing guidance to other employees and, as an individual contributor, executing hardware and software system integration, system characterization and troubleshooting, and verification and validation of complex systems.
The Agile Development Group (ADG) specializes in developing disruptive, next‑generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next‑generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience.
Essential Functions
Leading a team to identify and complete assigned program tasking, identifying and removing team’s impediments, and managing up.
Managing the team and individually contributing to hands‑on system integration and testing activities for a complex hardware/software system.
Performing design verification testing efforts including lab, chamber, ground, and flight test.
Assessing, troubleshooting, and developing mitigation strategies for complex system issues.
Fabricating parts and tools.
Rapidly learning and contributing during design‑develop‑build‑integration|test‑verification|validation cycles.
Collaborating across fast‑paced multidisciplinary (mechanical, electrical, specialty engineering) teams.
Guiding the team and/or as an individual contributor developing and running simulations and other analysis tools to predict system performance in various environments.
Delegating or authoring test plan/procedures, non‑conformance reports, requirements, and other system engineering CDRLs.
Explaining, interpreting, and gaining cooperation on policies, procedures, and practices.
Contributing to trade studies.
Using Agile PLM, Sunflower, Windchill.
Participating in proposal activities, both cost and technical.
Maintaining DoD security clearances as required.
Lifting up to 20 lbs.
Travel up to 10% may be required.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
Active Secret security clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills
Experience in unmanned aircraft or guided weapon systems.
System level experience involving design and integration of complex hardware/software systems, definition of multiple interfaces, and trade studies.
Hands‑on system integration experience, cross‑discipline engineering, verification and validation testing, and system performance characterization.
Experience with aerospace systems, especially in integrated hardware/software product development.
Experience integrating payloads such as sensors or communications into air vehicles.
Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering.
Experience with MATLAB, LabView, Python, or C/C++/C#.
Experience in Control Account Management within an Earned Value Management System.
Experience with proposal development, including generating basis of estimates.
Experience in developing use cases and requirements from customer objectives and concepts of operations.
Excellent people skills with experience leading and collaborating in a multi‑disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.
Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation).
Experience using Microsoft Office products.
