New Orleans, LA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Senior TIG Welder with exceptional skill in high‑precision aluminum and stainless‑steel fabrication for premium furniture, consoles, galley components, enclosures, and custom‑built structures.
Essential Duties
Perform expert‑level TIG welding on aluminum and stainless‑steel components used in premium furniture fabrication.
Read, interpret, and build from complex engineering drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication prints.
Fabricate custom assemblies, including frames, cabinets, tables, consoles, and specialty components using advanced metal‑forming techniques.
Ensure all welded joints meet high‑end cosmetic finish requirements with smooth, uniform beads and minimal distortion.
Operate fabrication equipment such as press brakes, saws, grinders, and finishing tools.
Perform precise fit‑ups, joint preparation, and fabrication sequencing to optimize weld quality and minimize rework.
Collaborate with engineering and fabrication teams to improve manufacturability, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
Inspect completed welds using visual standards and measuring tools to maintain compliance with design tolerances.
Train and mentor junior welders in TIG techniques and aluminum/stainless fundamentals.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment consistent with company safety practices.
Requirements / Skills
3+ years of professional TIG welding experience with strong aluminum and stainless‑steel fabrication abilities.
Proven experience producing high‑end furniture, architectural pieces, marine components, or custom fabricated assemblies.
Expert knowledge of aluminum alloys (5052, 6061) and stainless steel (304, 316).
Strong mastery of TIG welding parameters, heat control, and distortion mitigation.
Ability to perform precision fit‑ups and tight‑tolerance welds with clean aesthetics.
Understanding of fabrication techniques such as bending, notching, coping, forming, and finishing.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet production deadlines.
Proficiency using grinders, sanders, and finishing tools to achieve brushed or polished finishes.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a shop fabrication environment.
Preferred: Experience in NAVSEA‑grade, architectural, or high‑end commercial furniture manufacturing; familiarity with CNC‑cut parts, press brake operations, and fixtures; leadership or mentoring experience; TIG certifications.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
Ability to stand, bend, and work in a fabrication shop environment for extended periods.
