Staff Accountant, Associate
Job Overview LCG, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations with a focus on accounts payable, cash receipts, and fixed-price client billing. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely invoicing and collections, and supporting month-end close activities.
The ideal candidate has a solid accounting foundation, strong organizational skills, and experience working in a professional services or project-based environment.
Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable (AP)
Process vendor invoices accurately and timely, ensuring proper coding and approvals
Maintain vendor records and resolve invoice discrepancies
Prepare and process weekly payment runs
Assist with AP accruals and month-end close activities
Cash Receipts & Accounts Receivable Support
Record and apply customer payments (checks, ACH, wire) to the general ledger
Reconcile cash receipts to bank activity and customer accounts
Support collections efforts by researching and resolving payment variances
Assist with AR aging reviews and customer account reconciliations
Fixed-Price Billing
Prepare and issue fixed-price client invoices in accordance with contract terms and billing schedules
Coordinate with project managers to validate billing milestones and deliverables
Ensure billing accuracy, completeness, and proper revenue recognition support
Maintain billing documentation and support audit requests
General Accounting & Reporting
Assist with month-end and year-end close, including journal entries and reconciliations
Perform balance sheet account reconciliations
Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and analysis
Maintain accurate and organized accounting records
Process Improvement & Support
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls
Support special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as needed
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
1–3 years of accounting experience
Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint
Experience with accounts payable and cash application
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
Experience with fixed-price or project-based billing
Core Competencies
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Clear written and verbal communication
Analytical and problem-solving mindset
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Compensation and Benefits The projected compensation range for this position is $75,000 to $95,000 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
