Prince Contracting is proud to be part of the US 301 Widening Project in Dade City, Florida, a major FDOT design-build transportation improvement. The project involves widening approximately 4 miles of US 301 into a four-lane divided roadway, along with new bridges, intersections, sidewalks, drainage, and safety enhancements. This work will improve traffic flow, mobility, and safety for the surrounding community while supporting long-term regional growth. Responsibilities
Under the supervision of engineer, perform engineering tasks in planning and overseeing various aspects of ongoing construction of mega infrastructure projects valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars. This includes: Lead project meetings with key stakeholders (e.g., owners, foremen, contractors, supervisors) to gather and disseminate project-related information relating to ongoing progress, scheduling, construction issues, variances, and technical challenges, ensuring clear and effective communication on infrastructure projects valued at over $100 million. Coordinate the collection and dissemination of technical information between internal teams and the project owner, ensuring that all parties have accurate and timely access to accurate technical information relevant to project progress. Evaluate technical data and review specifications relating to ongoing construction to ensure project conformance to contractual and design standards and resolve issues. Provide technical advice and coordinate responses to Requests for Information (RFI) and manage Non-Conformance Report resolution/corrective actions pursuant to approval from the Engineer of Record and the owner. Determine possibility of conflicts/delays in the construction process by reviewing project processes and recommending process changes to improve efficiency and minimize chances of delay. Develop operational work plans and procedures to manage construction, seeking direction and approval from the Engineer of Record and the owner as needed. Schedule and monitor construction activities on projects valued at over $100 million to ensure timely completion, including follow‑up with external suppliers. Estimate quantities and develop and maintain bill of materials and budgets based on project specifications on projects valued at over $100 million, ensuring that all project needs are accurately represented. Evaluate and revise supplier quotations by analyzing cost standards and technical information from quality, manufacturing, engineering, and design standpoint to develop accurate cost estimates and ensure alignment with project objectives on projects valued at over $100 million, conducting cost‑benefit analyses to support operational and technical decisions. Ensure that project charges are accurately represented to estimate operational costs for accounting's closing process and conduct cost vs. bid performance variance analysis for various subcontractors. Direct construction activities by negotiating and managing subcontractor contract terms and change orders, ensuring that project specifications are met, technical requirements are satisfied, and work is completed as required. Schedule and conduct inspections to determine if facilities meet quality control and assurance standards. Coordinate surveying operations. Coordinate implementation of the Safety, Health & Environmental program. Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering or a closely related field. Demonstrated experience with Cast‑In‑Place (CIP) concrete walls, including retaining walls, MSE walls, sound walls, and bridge approach or wing walls, from layout through concrete placement and curing. Working knowledge of FDOT standards, specifications, and quality control requirements, with the ability to interpret FDOT plans, shop drawings, and technical details. Prior experience on FDOT roadway or bridge projects, including coordination of formwork, reinforcing steel, inspections, and compliance documentation. Minimum (3) years of experience working in civil infrastructure project engineering and/or construction management on construction projects valued at over $50 million. Experience negotiating and managing subcontractor contracts and change orders on large‑scale construction projects. Experience in cost estimation and financial analysis on construction projects valued at over $50 million, including preparing bills of materials, reviewing supplier quotations, verifying variances from budgets, and conducting cost‑benefit analyses to support operational decisions. Experience using construction project management software (Procore, Primavera or similar software) to prepare project schedules and analyze cost versus bid performance on large‑scale construction projects. Experience coordinating responses to Requests for Information on large scale construction projects.
