Posting Summary Rutgers is seeking a Research Project Manager for the Education and Employment Research Center (EERC) in the School of Management and Labor Relations. This position will support grant‑funded mixed‑method applied research and evaluations related to the intersection between education and the workforce.

Responsibilities

Collaborates on the design, execution, and interpretation of social science, experimental, survey research, and other studies with a focus on mixed‑methods methodologies.

Develops and manages research plans, data collection processes, and data analysis efforts.

Conducts literature reviews related to higher education and workforce development, including reference management using RefWorks and Zotero.

Conducts interviews virtually and in‑person with a range of respondents including students, faculty, advisors, administrators, higher education and workforce leaders, and employers.

Conceptualizes and performs quantitative and qualitative research and data analysis using programs including STATA and NVIVO.

Synthesizes data collected from various qualitative and quantitative sources to generate findings.

Leads the preparation of written reports, sections for academic publication, technical reports, presentations, and external communications summarizing research methods, findings, and implications.

Communicates research methods and findings to both technical and non‑technical audiences effectively.

Tracks developments in relevant fields of education and workforce to support the development of new proposals.

Monitors project progress and coordinates timeline adjustments and resource reallocation as needed to meet project deadlines.

Provides overall project coordination, scheduling, and protocol development to successfully complete deliverables.

Coordinates project activities with internal teams and external partners, and oversees the work of research assistants to support project goals.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in social science and at least three (3) years of work experience and/or graduate coursework in mixed‑method or qualitative research.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience with qualitative data collection including interviews and/or site visits.

Experience with survey design and Qualtrics.

Experience with qualitative analysis using NVIVO.

Experience with quantitative analysis using statistical programming such as Stata and/or SPSS.

Exceptional oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.

Familiarity with higher education and workforce development, including community college workforce education, career pathways, non‑degree credentials, noncredit education, and apprenticeship.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral degree in social science.
