Job Description - FIELD SUPPORT TECHNICIAN

Primary Location: Western District Admin
Pay Range: $62,930 to $81,237 based upon experience.
Responsibilities
Provides IT services and support to Navy Exchanges, Navy Lodges, NGIS, NEX Distribution Centers/warehouses, and district offices.
Provides technical and logistical support; user services, and maintenance of telecommunication, network, Point of Sale, RF, and desktop computing equipment, as well as dumb terminals, printers/multifunction devices and other peripherals.
Performs capacity planning and analysis for new and installed networks.
Installs and modifies network and desktop hardware and software.
Implements new networks from design through post‑installation stages, including cable plants, installation, and testing.
Documents and manages assets of networks and all IT equipment.
Performs troubleshooting and repair of dysfunctional networks and equipment.
Optimizes networks and desktop systems.
Provides minor computer operations maintenance for Distribution Center servers and conveyor equipment support.
Acts as Code I point of contact for store, hospitality, and distribution center management.
Reports orally and in writing to regional lead technician and Field Support Supervisor.
Follows technical direction from NEXCOM Field Support Supervisor and Regional Lead Technician.
Implements Information Security/Information Assurance policies and practices in delivery of systems, applications, and services.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Qualifications
Three years of IT technical experience demonstrating aptitude in networking, LAN systems, Point of Sale systems, RF communications/networking, desktop/laptop support, printer repair, and management information systems.
Two years of progressive experience in operating systems support, database administration, Point‑of‑Sale, electronic messaging, desktop/laptop, printers, application support (retail, financial, distribution/logistics, human resources), wide‑area networking, RF networking, and LAN support.
Help‑desk or system‑support experience.
Experience using automated tools for tracking, monitoring, and analyzing support activities to identify trends.
Required certifications and credentials (cybersecurity or OS/CE certificates, and a signed privileged access statement). Candidates may be placed in the position but must obtain required certifications within 6 months.
Substitution of experience for education: One year of related academic study above high school may substitute for nine months of experience up to a maximum of a four‑year bachelor’s degree in business/information systems for three years of general experience.
Qualified candidates must be U.S. citizens.
Position requires a favorable Access National Agency Check and Inquiries (ANACI).
Position is designated IT‑2 (Non‑critical Sensitive). Must comply with SECNAV M‑5239.2 on cyber IT/CSWF requirements.
Additional Information All incumbents must comply with the DON Cyber IT/CSWF Program requirements, participate in continuous learning activities, and maintain certifications as required.
