We are seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and student-centered Middle School (6-8) Mathematics Teacher to join our faculty. This position plays a key role in fostering a climate of trust and mutual respect, ensuring that students feel empowered to take risks and explore complex mathematical concepts. The role strengthens our Middle School program by delivering highly engaging, multi-modal instruction that nurtures each student’s intellectual, social, and emotional development.
Responsibilities of a 6-8 Math Teacher The School’s faculty strives to set for its students an example of high ethical standards, moral behavior, and devotion to excellence. This responsibility involves the following:
Plan lessons and post weekly agendas and resources to online LMS (Canvas) for 4-5 classes.
Teach interactive lessons with clear computational and mathematical explanations and labs.
Flexibility to teach a variety of math courses ranging from Math 6 to Pre-Algebra through Geometry.
Lead an advisory/homeroom group. To show concern for and nurture the student’s intellectual, social and emotional development.
To offer highly engaging learning opportunities that capitalize on numerous modalities including but not limited to small group, partner, whole class, body movement, role play, conversation, visual art.
To maintain a climate of trust and mutual respect which encourages students to risk the questions, the opinions, and mistakes necessary to learn.
To offer students clear educational objectives for each course supported by appropriate assignments, activities and evaluation.
To accurately assess each student’s progress and inform the student, the parents/guardians and the appropriate administrator immediately of any serious difficulty.
To work collaboratively with colleagues within the Math department and within the Middle School.
A teacher’s effectiveness in the programs of the School includes various activities in addition to teaching and classroom duties, such as:
Participation in and support of school activities
Providing extra help to students who need it
Promptness in meeting all School obligations (arrival in good time, meeting classes, returning papers)
Flexibility and cooperation in furthering academic or extracurricular programs.
Attendance at School activities, such as plays, concerts, athletic events, etc., is very strongly encouraged
Regular attendance at faculty meetings and open houses is expected and required
Some evening and weekend work
Core Qualifications
BS or higher degree in Mathematics or a related field
Classroom and/or online teaching experience
Proficiency with technology/experience teaching with iPads
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in related subject or education; California Single Subject Teaching Credential
Experience building and delivering curriculum through an LMS (Canvas, Blackbaud, etc.)
Compensation The salary range is $70,400 - $140,000 annually. Placement within the range will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Candidates with fewer years of experience can expect placement toward the lower end of the range. This position offers a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, a matching 403(b) retirement plan, and daily lunch.
