Keysight Technologies SAles Spain SL., Sauk Trail Beach, Wisconsin, United States
Keysight is at the forefront of technology innovation, delivering breakthroughs and trusted insights in electronic design, simulation, prototyping, test, manufacturing, and optimization. Our ~15,000 employees create world‑class solutions in communications, 5G, automotive, energy, quantum, aerospace, defense, and semiconductor markets for customers in over 100 countries. Learn more about what we do.
Our award‑winning culture embraces a bold vision of where technology can take us and a passion for tackling challenging problems with industry‑first solutions. We believe that when people feel a sense of belonging, they can be more creative, innovative, and thrive at all points in their careers.
About the Team Keysight Design Engineering Software (DES) is Keysight’s advanced software organization building industry‑leading Electronic Design Automation, Computer‑Aided Engineering, and Multiphysics simulation platforms. These tools are used by the world’s leading electronics companies to design, simulate, and validate high‑frequency, high‑speed, and highly complex electronic systems.
Within DES, the R&D center in Ghent, Belgium develops cutting‑edge physics‑based simulation technology across electromagnetics, photonics, and now thermal modeling. The team is currently expanding its thermal simulation capabilities to support next‑generation PCB, package, and 3D‑IC design.
The environment is international, highly technical, and collaborative, with engineers from more than 20 nationalities working on globally deployed simulation platforms.
About the Role We are hiring a Senior Thermal CAD Software Developer to help build and scale Keysight’s thermal CAD simulation platform for electronic design.
This role sits at the intersection of:
Physics‑based thermal modeling
High‑performance numerical algorithms
Large‑scale C++ simulation software
You will not just write code — you will
shape how thermal simulation is delivered to electronics engineers
designing PCBs, packages, and 3D‑ICs. You will work closely with product managers, R&D, QA and customer‑facing teams to ensure the solver technology translates into usable, high‑value design tools.
Responsibilities
Architect, design, and implement
thermal simulation capabilities
for Keysight’s EDA platform
Integrate
thermal solvers
into PCB, package, and 3D‑IC design workflows
Develop and optimize
numerical algorithms
for large‑scale thermal simulations
Debug and resolve
solver accuracy, convergence, and performance issues
Work with Product Management and Technical Support to translate customer needs into solver and workflow features
Apply best practices in
modern C++ software engineering
(modular design, testability, performance, maintainability)
Contribute to
code reviews, CI pipelines, documentation, and quality standards
Qualifications Required Qualifications
MSc or PhD in
Thermal Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or similar
Strong background in
computational thermal modeling, CFD, or numerical simulation
(e.g., OpenFOAM or similar)
Hands‑on experience developing
large‑scale numerical solvers
Expert‑level C++
(modern C++, not just basic scripting)
Experience designing
robust, high‑performance simulation software
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Ability to collaborate across international, multi‑disciplinary teams
Desired Qualifications
Python for scripting, prototyping, or automation
Knowledge of
electronics thermal design
(PCB, IC packages, power electronics, 3D‑IC)
Experience with
high‑performance computing (HPC)
and solver optimization
Experience with
Git, CI/CD, and modern build systems
