Job Summary The Wound Care Nurse / Quality Assurance Nurse (RN) oversees the facility’s wound care program while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role promotes high clinical standards, staff education, and continuous quality improvement.
Wound Care Nurse Responsibilities
Serve as the primary Wound Care Nurse for the facility
Perform wound assessments, staging, measurements, and documentation
Develop individualized wound care plans and provide treatments per provider orders
Conduct routine wound rounds and monitor healing progress
Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members on wound management
Educate nursing staff on wound prevention, skin integrity, and proper dressing techniques
Track and analyze wound data, trends, and outcomes
Support pressure injury prevention programs
Ensure all wound care documentation meets regulatory requirements
Quality Assurance Nurse Responsibilities
Monitor and evaluate nursing services to ensure regulatory compliance
Conduct audits, reviews, and quality checks
Assist in developing and updating nursing policies and procedures
Identify opportunities for improvement and lead corrective action plans
Participate in state surveys and follow-up processes
Support staff education and training related to quality care
Promote patient-centered care through collaboration with physicians, families, and residents
Maintain accurate QA reports, logs, and documentation
Contribute to ongoing Quality Improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Wound care experience preferred; WCC or WOCN certification a plus
Experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred
Strong assessment, communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Commitment to high-quality resident care and regulatory compliance
