Responsibilities The mechanics are responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining all Fleet Vehicles, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently.
Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following
Conduct routine operational and preventive maintenance checks related to maintenance and repair of automotive and grounds equipment and facilities to include inspecting, testing, cleaning, lubricating and as necessary, repairing or replacing defective parts of trucks, tractors, automotive and lawn care equipment. Inspect and repair automotive equipment, trucks, tractors and lawn mower equipment.
Assist in maintaining inventory of equipment supplies and materials. Follow a predetermined schedule of preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
Pickup and deliver supplies and materials to various locations as required.
Keep records on inspections, test results, work performed and parts used.
Perform such other tasks as may be assigned from time to time by immediate supervisors.
Knowledge, skills and abilities for the position
Knowledge of automobile and small engine repair and maintenance.
Mathematics: Ability to perform simple arithmetic for measuring and other calculations.
Language & Communication: Ability to read, write, speak and understand English, and communicate effectively with others.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal direction.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to exercise independent and sound judgment.
Cultural awareness of and sensitivity to Kickapoo traditions, religious beliefs and way of life.
Education/experience requirements Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or graduation equivalent diploma (GED)
A high school education with course work in shop. Two (2) to Five (5) year of related experience.
Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
An associate degree in automotive technology or similar. Hold a valid state vehicle inspection license.
Native American preference is observed KTTT recognizes preference for KTTT tribal members and qualified Native American tribal members including preferential treatment in recruitment, hiring, promotions, layoffs and reductions in force so long as they meet minimum job qualifications.
Special certification required Must have a valid Texas State Driver’s license and must be insurable.
Must adhere to Personnel Policies and Alcohol Policies.
Physical activities While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
The employee must be able to communicate effectively in person.
The employee must have the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate hand and power tools machinery controls.
The employee must engage in physical exertion over long periods of time without getting winded or out of breath.
The employee must have a normal range of hearing and be able to talk.
