CTG is seeking to fill a Release Train Engineer I opening for our client.

Overview: The Release Train Engineer (RTE) I provides servant leadership and Agile coaching to a program-level

Agile Release Train (ART)

consisting of multiple cross-functional teams. This role applies

SAFe and Agile principles

to support

Program Increment (PI) Planning ,

Scrum of Scrums , and program-level execution. The RTE ensures delivery predictability, transparency, and forecasting while enabling teams to deliver business value aligned to organizational objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

Facilitate and lead program-level Agile ceremonies, including

PI Planning ,

Scrum of Scrums ,

ART Syncs , and retrospectives

Partner with Senior Product Owners to align feature value, manage intake, prioritize the

program backlog , and distribute work across ART teams

Maintain stakeholder alignment through program-level reporting, dashboards, and metrics

Enable delivery predictability, forecasting, and coordinated

release planning

Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and impediments impacting the ART

Lead, mentor, and coach

Scrum Masters

to ensure consistent Agile execution

Coach teams and influence senior leaders on

Agile and SAFe best practices

Collaborate with peer RTEs to improve processes using

KPIs and performance metrics

Participate in

Agile Communities of Practice

to drive continuous improvement

Ensure compliance with organizational

risk management, regulatory standards, and internal controls

Promote an inclusive environment aligned with the

M&T Bank brand and values

Support audit, regulatory, and risk remediation activities

Perform additional duties as assigned

Scope of Responsibilities: Responsible for coordinating and enabling multiple Agile teams within a single ART to meet delivery commitments, quality standards, and business objectives.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities: Direct management responsibility for

4–10 Scrum Masters

supporting teams within the ART, including performance management and development.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience working in

Agile and SAFe environments

Hands‑on experience facilitating Agile ceremonies and program-level coordination

Education and Experience Preferred:

SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification

Experience leading or managing Scrum Masters

Experience in

regulated environments

(e.g., financial services)

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
