Job Description Summary The Coatings Materials Application Engineer will help guide Coating Systems decisions for our next generation products with innovative material and process solutions. You will help execute the application of new technologies onto hardware and ensure legacy coating and coating system vitality.

Job Description Roles and Responsibilities

Partner with Engineering Material Systems program leadership, Supply Chain, and Systems to advise on adoption of new Materials and Process technologies with eye toward fulfilling short-term and long-term business goals.

Partner with Supply Chain to resolve production and near production materials technology issues. Initiate and proactively participate in reviews to identify impending roadblocks.

Partner with the EMS consulting engineers and TRL leaders to select concepts from our material systems roadmaps and help guide the implementation of early technology projects.

Raise awareness of top technical risks with development and legacy coating systems.

Provide technical, horizontal team, and program leadership on complex issues related to materials technology; proactively develop creative solutions.

Communicate significant developments with leadership and consult on investment and growth opportunities; provide technical evaluation of proposed applications that meet business and program requirements.

Define, develop and improve business processes related to material and process of coating systems that can improve quality and productivity.

Develop relationships with partnering organizations, including materials experts at external customers, and cultivate these relationships to position GE to compete on future pursuits.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college.

A minimum of 3 years of experience in materials application, processing, or development.

This role requires the successful candidate to maintain a US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold US Government Security Clearance.

Desired Characteristics

Literate in current office software (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, etc.).

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Existing DoD Security Secret Clearance.

Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.

Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
