Middlesex County Resource Center (MCRC)
Serves as a walk‑in program for low‑income individuals, the homeless and former offenders in Middlesex County, New Jersey. Case managers provide discharge planning services to individuals incarcerated at the Middlesex County Jail.
Overall Goals
Support low‑income individuals with preparation for crime‑free and responsible roles within the community while helping them meet immediate needs and establishing longer‑term goals.
Provide linkages within the community to enhance their ability to be self‑sufficient in a safe living environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The successful candidate shall report to Program Manager. Responsibilities include ensuring clients receive appropriate services based on assessed need and supporting the overall service component of the program.
Provide overall direction and coordination of programs for Clients assigned to the New Jersey Association on Correction at Middlesex County Resource Center.
In conjunction with the program manager, insure that each resident is rendered services and groups in accordance to industry evidence based standards, CARF accreditation standards and contractual obligations.
Insure that all client screenings, identification, management, and treatment of substance abuse problems are in accordance to our contract with all funder and NJAC guidelines.
Responsible for efficient management of casework functions and monitoring the methodologies governing casework documentation.
Primary case management duties include
Individual and group case management, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, authorized outings into the community, monthly behavioral evaluations and weekly case presentations.
Other areas of focus may include safety, Alumni Services, Family Services Smoke Cessation, Orientation and HIV Services.
Ensure development and implementation of comprehensive service plans for residents; assess strengths, needs, abilities and preferences; monitor client progress in case notes weekly.
QUALIFICATIONS Must be cleared by NJSPB and NJAC prior to employment commencement. Practical skills in communication, counseling processes and resource development required. Additional job‑related skills: working with addictive personalities, basic understanding of human behavior and utilizing group dynamics to address special needs populations. Effective written and verbal communication skills absolutely required.
Physical requirements: lift up to 25 lbs, stand, walk, reach with arms, climb or balance, use fingers, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; close vision required. Must possess a valid driver’s license, use of an insured vehicle, satisfactory driving record. Background checks required at hire.
Education/Experience A Baccalaureate Degree and one year of experience in social sciences or a related field preferred. Ideal candidate will be well organized with strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Computer/TYPING Skills Strong computer skills including Windows, Microsoft Office, and Agency MIS system.
Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no personnel supervisory responsibilities.
