Qualifications Client is seeking a full-time Environmental Wastewater Treatment System Technician responsible for operation and maintenance (O&M) of remediation systems at a former industrial site located near Magnolia, Arkansas. The successful candidate shall perform office and field tasks necessary to operate and maintain groundwater collection and treatment systems. Field tasks include inspections, sample collection, preventative maintenance and repair, grounds keeping (e.g., mowing, weed eating, herbicide application, and painting), and subcontractor oversight. Office tasks include monitoring operational data and reporting.
Basic Qualifications
Basic familiarity with operating principles of valves, pumps, and motors; water/wastewater treatment processes; and associated safe work practices.
High school diploma or GED.
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain this training.
Ability and willingness to work as a team with one other full-time technician to facilitate uninterrupted operation of remediation systems by working alternating 8-day shifts, 10 hours per day, 365 days per year. Alternatively, 4-day work shifts (Friday – Monday) may be considered.
Willingness to remotely monitor remediation system operating conditions and to receive and periodically respond to after-hours automated system alarms during designated work shifts.
Reside within 30 minutes of Magnolia, Arkansas or have a willingness to relocate.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), data management systems and ability to operate Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to apply basic mechanical principles.
Ability to lift 30 pounds and perform physical tasks (bending, kneeling, and walking on uneven terrain).
Ability to operate light landscaping equipment (weed whacker, zero turn lawn mower, push mower, backpack sprayer, shovel, and rake), a utility task vehicle (UTV), and all-terrain telehandler forklift.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
Preferred Qualifications
Technical training in water treatment, electrical, mechanical, or related fields/trades.
Experience working on an active or former chemical manufacturing facility and overseeing subcontractors.
Experience with field implementation of rigorous health and safety programs.
>Responsibilities
Performs a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of water collection and treatment systems including maintenance of equipment, quality control/testing and day-to-day activities on an assigned shift.
Operates collection and treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water.
Monitors gauges, meters, and control panels.
Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings.
Operates valves either manually or by remote control.
Starts and stops pump, motors, and generators to control and adjust the flow of treatment processes.
Conducts and documents the results of inspections activities.
Performs routine maintenance functions, groundskeeping, and custodial duties.
Performs and oversees field tasks with minimal supervision and makes operating decisions in absence of supervisory personnel.
Understands and carries out oral and written directions.
Conducts routine setup, assembly, installation, and minor troubleshooting or repair of remediation equipment.
Acts as onsite lead for maintaining compliance with permit conditions.
Completes clear and detailed field documentation, including daily and weekly reports, photographic logs, inspection sheets, and preventative maintenance records.
Performs waste management activities including inspection of waste accumulation areas, tracking waste inventories, and overseeing waste pickups.
