The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Job Overview: Patient Service representative performs various front desk/ administrative duties in order to ensure patient and staff satisfaction and timely service delivery. Position will have a homebase but will be floated to other Ambulatory sites based on need. Qualifications: Required: * High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred:
- One-year experience in clerical or receptionist work
- Thorough knowledge of modern office methods, practices, equipment and ability to perform confidential and complex clerical tasks
- Demonstrates the ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Experience working with urban populations of multiple ethnic and cultural backgrounds
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Bilingual preferred
- Day shift, 8:00am-4:00pm
- Monday through Friday
- Full-Time, 40 hours per week
- Greets patients and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner. Assists with managing patient flow and oversee patient sign-in sheet throughout the day.
- Direct/assist patient to appropriate department or area as needed.
- Answer a high volume of incoming calls promptly, transferring calls to staff as needed.
- Responsible for scheduling and coordinating patient appointments. Follow up on all no show appointments.
- Responsible for scheduling and coordinating patient follow up procedures.
- Forward information from patient to other staff members and follow up as needed.
- Review voicemails and return calls within 24 hours.
- Assist with maintaining and updating provider' schedule on scheduling system as needed.
- Verify insurance of patients prior to their appointments.
- Identify patients with non-participating plans and resolve any surrounding issues prior to their appointments.
- Register patients in a timely manner, verify patients' full legal name spelling and date of birth, and accurately input all required information into the patient registration system.
- Verify the two patient identifiers, patients name and medical record number in compliance with DNV, at every patient encounter.
- Prepare and fully complete all necessary forms and documents, obtaining patient signatures as needed during the registration process.
- Ensure that an appropriate Advance Beneficiary Notification (ABN) is obtained from Medicare beneficiaries for laboratory tests, procedures, and other medical services that may not be paid by Medicare.
- Ensure accurate reimbursement of all accounts by correctly identifying insurance carriers/plans and obtaining complete insurance information.
- Effectively complete transactions regarding up-front collection (co-payments) of patient payment at the time of service.
- Records daily office charges, hospital charges, receipts and total number of patients seen.
- Assist with entering the billing charges to the billing system as needed.
- Retrieve medical records as needed, maintaining clinic records and files according to HIPAA guidelines.
- Demonstrate competency in operating copy/scanning equipment.
- Sort and maintain incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- Perform all clerical function in compliance with departmental rules and regulation.
- Performs Office Supervisor/ Manager Functions when Office Manager is out of office.
- Interact with other disciplines, departments, agencies and insurance companies in a professional manner.
- Maintain professional relationships with all co-workers.
- Follow HIPAA Compliance at all times.
- Complies with unit and department scheduling guidelines.
- Able to function independently with minimal direction from supervisor.
- Maintain and update professional knowledge and proficiency through continuing education, staff meetings, workshops, and serving on special committees.
- Promote a positive and healthy workplace environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Duration of the activity or conversation needs to be stated, Let patients know how long something is likely to take
