GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Journeyman licensed plumber will install, repair, and provide routine maintenance of natural gas, water, or wastewater lines and fixtures to maintain safe and effective service in Metrocare's owned facilities or residential dwellings. Provides instruction for apprentice plumbers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions listed here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the job.

* The Journeyman Licensed Plumber Installs, repairs, and provides routine maintenance of natural gas, water, or wastewater lines and fixtures to maintain safe and effective service in Metrocare owned facilities or residential dwellings. Provides journey level instruction and leadership for lower-level plumbers.

* Installs, repairs, and maintains water fixtures on or in Metrocare's property to improve or maintain level of service; checks restroom fixtures, repairs any toilets, urinals, seats, or other plumbing, and addresses clogs and damages.

* Plans and implements the installation of natural gas pipelines and potable or wastewater pipes, including the cost projection for parts and man-hours to support the installation of improvement projects.

* Instructs and educates lower-level plumbers in the uniform plumbing code, the use of plumbing tools, and plumbing practices to qualify them for more responsibility and promotion.

* Serves as a crew leader to ensure jobs are completed according to code and maintains leave use, hours worked, and performance records on lower-level plumbers.

* Measures, cuts, and threads iron pipe for natural gas pipelines or water/wastewater lines.

* Removes clogs from wastewater systems using manual and/or small power tools.

* Makes minor mechanical repairs to small water or fuel pumps; maintains, repairs, and fixes irrigation lines and related issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications

* Requires 3 to 5 years' experience as licensed Journeyman Plumber

* An associate's degree in a related Facilities Maintenance or Engineering field or successful completion from an accredited vocational training school in similar fields.

Basic math skills required.

Ability to work with reports and numbers & Ability to calculate moderately complex figures and amounts to accurately report activities and budgets.

* Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

NOTICE ON POSITIONS THAT REQUIRE TRAVEL TO/FROM VARIOUS WORKSITES

Positions that are "community-based," in whole or part, require the incumbent to travel between various worksites within his/her workday/workweek. The incumbent is required to have reliable transportation that can facilitate this requirement. The incumbent is further required to meet the criteria for insurability by the Center's risk management facilitator; and produce proof of minimal auto liability coverage when applicable. Failure to meet these terms may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment, contract or other status with Metrocare.

Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. If licensed in another state, must obtain Texas Driver License within three (3) months of employment.

Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business. Must be insurable by Center's liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business. Must have an acceptable driving record.
