Description:
CERNER IS REQUIRED.
Unit includes all Medsurg/Tele units.
Total beds: 31 beds (11 private & 10 semi-private).
Ratios are 1 to 4.
Charge Nurse is the Shift Manager & a Resource Nurse.
Nurse Aides available: 2 on days & 1 on nights.
Weekend Requirement: 4 shifts out of a 4-week schedule.
Weekend shifts for nights are Friday/Saturday & Saturday/Sunday for days.
Holidays: Travelers are expected to work into the permanent staff holiday rotation schedule (1 major holiday & 1 minor holiday).
Scrub color: Navy blue.
If wearing a scrub jacket, it must be navy.
Undershirts must be navy, white, or black.
Telemetry equipment used is Phillips.
CPAP and BiPAP available (per RT).
Hospitalist or Intensivist on-call after hours.
RT is 24/7: Yes.
Pharmacy is 24/7: Yes & Omnicell.
Shifts are from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
Block scheduling allowed if unit needs are met, but not guaranteed.
Travelers are the first to float.
Possible floating between MedSurg & other units due to shared licensing.
Floats may include MedSurg remote telemetry, some ICU tele holds, or ER holds.
Floor-specific orientation includes 1-2 shifts with a preceptor.
Common diagnoses/types of patients include post pacer, hemodialysis, new onset AFib, acute renal failure, surgical patients, oncology patients with cardiac problems to be monitored, strokes, TBI, high acuity patients, and others.
Cancellation Policy: Facility may cancel 3 shifts per assignment.
Charting System: Cerner.
Trauma Level: Not specified.
