Licensed Individual = $30

Non - Licensed Individual = $21

General Description:

The Instructor for 21st Century Community Learning Center Programs provides individualized or small group instruction to students in the after-school enrichment 21st Century grant programs. The Instructor for 21st Century Community Learning Center Programs provides students with an engaging learning environment to support students' academic success, enrichment experiences, and attainment of verified credits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Provides students with one-on-one or small group instruction to support students' attainment of core knowledge and skills

- Effectively plans and executes engaging, grade-level appropriate lessons that address the learning needs of all students

- Works with teachers, students, and other stakeholders to provide developmentally appropriate learning lessons and activities that are structured to advance students toward graduation

- Works with teachers and students to support progress monitoring of student growth

- Works collaboratively with teachers and students to plan, implement, and review needed interventions for specific students. Performs other job-related duties

- Utilizes the Virginia Standards of Learning framework and instructional resources to teach at the elementary or secondary level

- Attends ongoing required training

Qualifications:

- Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma

- Retired teachers (instructional) staff and/or college students would be ideal

- Must possess a passion for helping students learn and have the knowledge and skills to equip students to find new ways to look at difficult skills and concepts

- Must have patience, as several students may need significant support with understanding certain content

- Must also have a positive attitude, the ability to build rapport with students, and be able to initiate ways to motivate students when they become frustrated by academic and/or enrichment material

- Duties typically performed in a school setting. Performs professional work providing teaching and/or training services to students in a specialized subject. Work requires frequent standing, sitting, light lifting up to 10 pounds, walking, vocal communication for expressing or exchanging ideas, and hearing to perceive information at a normal

spoken word level and visual acuity for preparing and analyzing written or computer

data.
