Small family-owned and operated Food manufacturer based in the Houston, Texas area.
The Manufacturing and Supply Chain Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring plant operational efficiency, accurate and efficient inventory management, and leading all food safety, quality, and compliance activities within the facility.
Reports to: CEO & President
Key Responsibilities and Goals:
Leadership & Team Development
* Build, train, and lead a cross-functional team including Production and Warehouse Supervisors, A/R, A/P, Customer Service, and other staff to meet departmental Quality Assurance and Production goals.
Food Safety System Management
* Coordinate, develop, implement, update, and verify all policies and practices related to the CMI Certified Food Safety System.
* Lead HACCP team meetings, update HACCP systems, and revise, validate, and document changes to Food Safety Fundamentals (GMP/Prerequisite Programs) and HACCP Plans.
Audit Preparation & Compliance
* Prepare for and support successful completion of audits, including: Costco Small Manufacturer Audit and SQF Audit Level II Certification
* Ensure the facility is audit-ready at all times.
Documentation & Verification
* Verify that all documentation, reports, and records for Food Safety, Quality, HACCP, and Food Defense are complete, accurate, and compliant.
* Verify adherence to SSOPs, sanitation practices, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Supplier Management
* Conduct Supplier Food Safety Assessments and maintain updated Approved Supplier Registry files.
* Monitor supplier compliance and documentation.
Production & Scheduling
* Develop and oversee employee and production schedules to maintain adherence to planned hours.
Competencies Needed for Success:
* 5+ years of relevant hands-on experience in Operations Management, Warehouse Operations, Inventory Management, and FSQA Management in Food manufacturing and/or distribution. Meat, Dairy, or Produce industry preferred.
* SQF Practitioner.
* PCQI Certification and FSMA compliance.
* Experience preparing for and managing third-party audits (SQF, Costco, etc.).
* Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or related field preferred.
* Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
