HIV Testing Counselor & Biomedical Prevention Navigator

Location: Los Angeles, Bathhouses (Commercial Sex Venues)
Position Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, the HIV Testing Counselor & Biomedical Prevention Navigator, funded by the Department of HIV and STD Programs (DHSP), is responsible for delivering HIV/AIDS Health Education and Risk Reduction Prevention Services. This includes providing HIV testing to both HIV-positive individuals and high-risk HIV-negative populations, using Commercial Sex Venues; street/community outreach and tracking, and maintaining tracking efforts. The role also serves as a direct point of access for individuals seeking HIV biomedical prevention services, including pre-exposure prophylaxis ("PrEP") and post-exposure prophylaxis ("PEP").
Principal Responsibilities:
* Provide targeted HIV/AIDS health and risk reduction education;
* Provide rapid HIV counseling, testing, and referral services; at DHSP Commercial Sex Venue approved sites (Wesley Health Center Clinics and Partner Agencies);
* Provide HIV and STD testing in CSV (Commercial Sex Venues);
* Conduct individual counseling and assessments for potential PrEP/PEP clients;
* Completion of all requisition forms, logs and required documentation or data entry;
* Maintain temperature logs, quality assurance logs and documentation up-to-date;
* Link HIV Positive clients to care by providing an appointment at our clinical sites;
* Link clients to primary care services, PrEP navigation, and services offered at Wesley Health Centers;
* Provide point of care PrEP navigation to PrEP eligible populations at Commercial Sex Venues, including education, harm reduction counseling, eligibility screening, and appointment scheduling;
* Conduct outreach and engage clients and patients to conduct HIV Tests;
* Attend community and staff meetings, as scheduled;
* Maintain testing areas clean and sanitary;
* Collaborate with other JWCH/WHC programs and satellite sites to ensure successful referrals for PrEP/PEP-related services and appointments;
* Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
* Experience working with high risk populations;
* Current HIV/AIDS, STI, and biomedical HIV prevention knowledge;
* Certification as an HIV counselor;
* Effective oral and written communication skills;
* Working knowledge of Microsoft office programs (Outlook, excel, word);
* Current California Driver License and ability to drive to program sites;
* Understanding and experience implementing HIV health educational risk reduction curriculum.
Preferred:
* Bilingual (English/Spanish);
* HIV/AIDS and STI knowledge;
* Phlebotomy Certificate;
* PrEP and PEP experience or trainings completed.
