PBCA Full-time Substitute Teacher
This position implements a classical Christian curriculum that involves a love for ancient wisdom, instilling virtue, connecting Christ to every subject, and developing world class rhetorical skills. The ideal candidate will work closely with the classroom teacher to create a vibrant classical Christian school culture.
This is a ten-month position, reporting to the School Administration.
Qualifications
* Evidence of strong Christian faith and values and attestation of the School's Statement of Faith and Staff Leadership Covenant.
* Must hold a bachelor's or higher degree or have at least three years of teaching experience in public or private schools, or have special skills, knowledge, or expertise for qualification to provide instruction in subjects taught. *
* Degree in education and/or teaching certification preferred.
* Evidence of knowledge of elementary curriculum and the ability to implement it.
* Must be able to manage a classroom.
* Evidence of ability to interact collaboratively with students, parents, and Administration.
* Evidence of excellent oral and written skills.
* Must pass drug test and level 2 background check.
Responsibilities
* Substitute for classroom teachers on short or extended leaves, delivering pre-prepared lesson plans and ensuring that learning objectives are met.
* Implement lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate.
* Review with the principal, supervisor and/or designated teacher the plans and schedule to be followed during the teaching day.
* Organize students for effective instruction.
* Maintain discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive learning environment for all students and staff in accordance with school policies.
* Ensure adequate supervision to ensure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
* Deliver engaging lessons that inspire and challenge students of all abilities.
* Manage classroom behavior, keeping students focused and motivated.
* Work closely with school staff to ensure that students are progressing well.
* Provide a safe and positive learning environment that promotes inclusion and diversity.
Supplemental Responsibilities
* As directed by leadership, supervise and lead students in daily after-school activities, including homework support, games, crafts, and enrichment.
* Ensure student safety at all times and follow all program policies and procedures.
* Build positive relationships with students, encouraging participation, kindness, and respect.
* Assist with behavior management, transitions, and conflict resolution as needed.
* Collaborate with team members to prepare materials, set up activity areas, and maintain clean and organized program spaces.
* Monitor attendance and help with daily sign-in/sign-out procedures.
