Pre-Owned Sales Manager, YoungerMotorcars
Our dealership is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Pre-Owned Sales Manager to lead our pre-owned vehicle operations. The ideal candidate will bring a proven record of success, a commitment to delivering an exceptional customer buying experience, and a leadership style rooted in integrity and collaboration. This role is responsible for driving sales performance, profitability, and customer satisfaction while maintaining a competitive, well-balanced inventory. A critical component of this position includes the strategic acquisition of pre-owned vehicles through auctions, trade-ins, direct purchases, and data-driven market analysis, while developing and empowering the sales team for continued success.
Essential Duties
Forecast goals and objectives for the department and strive to meet them. Strive for harmony and teamwork with all other departments.
Establish recommended unit sales and dollar gross profit objectives for the Daily Operating Control.
Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that affect Pre-Owned sales (i.e. ensure that Buyer’s Guide stickers are affixed to the window of every used vehicle).
Hire, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of all Pre-Owned sales employees.
Conductregular sales training meetings as directed by the General Sales Manager and General Manager.
Establish a program, which ensures that Pre-Owned salespeople are kept informed of all new inventory. Establish and enforce product-knowledge standards.
Oversee the efforts of Pre-Owned salespeople to enhance the image and customer satisfaction ratings of the dealership.
Communicate with Pre-Owned salesemployeesto ensure that dealership policies and procedures are understood and followed.
Monitor salespeople’s’ payroll records. Guide all salespeople in setting their objectives on a short- and long-range basis.
Review all Pre-Owned Salesemployee's performance. Assist in developing programs of improvement for those salespeople who are failing to reach their objectives.
Work with salespeople on programs that will increase the used car gross.
Communicateregularly with the New Toyota Sales Manager regarding trade-ins.
Monitor customer and market analyses to determine what customers are buying.
Maintain a Pre-Owned inventory.
Establish standards for appraising.
Establish and maintain procedures for reconditioning. Ensure that cosmetic and mechanical reconditioning is performed within the dealership’s cost and time limitations. Develop, implement, and monitor the use of a prospecting program.
Plan and control the display of used vehicles.Assist and coachsalespeopleclosing deals.
Establish and control wholesaling activity, with Dealer’s concurrence. Maintain standards for the delivery of vehicles to customers.
Assist in the development of advertising campaigns and other promotions.
Qualifications
High school diploma or the equivalent.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
AT LEAST ONE YEAR of Pre-Owned sales experience.
Broad knowledge of all types of vehicles.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Valid driver’s license
Professional personal appearance.
Excellent communication and managerial skills.
Working Conditions The Pre-Owned Sales Manager works indoors and outdoors, moving about the dealership facility and lot to communicate with salespeople and customers. S/he works closely with the other departments to transport paperwork and discuss sales. S/he will perform test drives. Weekend, evening, and holiday hours are required.
