GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Materials Manager plans, coordinates, and manages all materials management functions for the surgery center to ensure the continuous availability of supplies, instruments, and equipment required for safe and efficient surgical operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Manage and maintain all supplies, equipment, instruments, and materials required for daily surgical operations.
Oversee purchasing activities, including requisitions, purchase orders, receiving, and invoice processing to ensure accurate and timely payment.
Supervise the maintenance of accurate records related to inventory levels, purchasing, and vendor documentation.
Maintain and optimize automated materials management systems to support inventory tracking, ordering, and reporting functions.
Coordinate and conduct physical inventories and complete mandatory bi-annual inventory reporting in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements.
Monitor cost-saving opportunities, coordinate product trials and evaluations, and maintain savings logs and cost-analysis documentation.
Work closely with physicians, clinical leadership, and staff during product evaluations to ensure quality, standardization, and cost efficiency.
Oversee activities related to instrument availability, ensuring proper inventory levels, maintenance, and readiness for surgical cases.
Collaborate with leadership in budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis related to materials and supplies.
All leadership team members are expected to operate with professionalism, accountability, and alignment to the mission, vision, and values of the surgery center.
Maintain strong vendor relationships and ensure compliance with contracts, pricing agreements, and regulatory standards.
Ensure adherence to infection control, safety, and regulatory requirements related to materials handling and storage.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a scrub technician in an operating room setting, preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of materials management functions, including purchasing, inventory control, and budget support.
Experience as a medical materials buyer or senior buyer, preferred.
Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, clinical staff, and administrative leadership.
Proficiency with inventory management and purchasing systems.
