Garland Community Baptist Church (GCBC) of Garland, Maine.
We seek a dedicated and spiritually grounded Senior Pastor to provide dynamic leadership, nurturing pastoral care, and impactful preaching to guide our 50-100 member congregation.
The Senior Pastor will serve as the spiritual shepherd of the church and be responsible for spiritual leadership, pastoral care, and overall administration, in accordance with the GCBC constitution.
The Senior Pastor’s overall responsibility, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, is to lead members and attendees to a closer and deeper relationship with God, and as such this role requires a deep commitment to faith, effective preaching, strong leadership, and a passion for guiding the congregation in spiritual growth.
We are looking for a candidate who conforms to the qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
Spiritual Leadership
Prepare Bible studies, sermons, messages, and teachings that are biblically sound and relevant to our congregation
Collaborate with church leadership and the praise team to coordinate a cohesive and Christ-centered weekly worship service on Sundays.
Prepare and lead the mid-week Bible study and prayer time
Facilitate Bible studies and educational programs that promote spiritual growth and theological exploration
Develop, execute, and communicate the church’s mission and vision by aligning ministerial activities with the church’s overall goals for spiritual and physical growth.
Foster a deep understanding of scripture, theology, and doctrine among the congregation
Lead by example in pursuing a personal and intimate relationship with God and modeling the same for the congregation.
Foster growth of individual believers, assisting them, along with the leadership, to recognize and apply their Spiritual gifts.
Seeking to develop those believers within the congregation that can be raised up as future leaders, within the parameters of the New Testament.
Pastoral Care
Provide spiritual guidance and counselling to congregation members, in coordination with ministerial staff and church leadership.
Actively participate in visitation to members in hospitals, nursing homes, and private residences. Offer support and prayer during these visits to provide comfort and spiritual care.
Promote and foster a sense of community within the congregation and encourage outreach efforts to wider community.
Administrative Duties
Meet with church elders, deacons and deaconess regularly.
Regularly attend staff and committee meetings.
Collaborate with church leadership to manage church budget and financial resources.
Ensure compliance with the GCBC constitution, church policies, and procedures.
Exceptional communication skills, both in dynamic preaching and effective interpersonal interactions.
Willing to participate in educational and enrichment opportunities.
Citizen of the United States
Job Qualifications
A personal and intimate relationship with God, characterized by a vibrant prayer life and a dedication to living out biblical principles.
Experience in pastoral ministry in a role that involved preaching, teaching, and supervision of staff.
