UA Associate - Middle Markets (Phoenix, AZ) Zurich North America is currently hiring an Underwriting Account Service Associate to join the Middle Markets team. The role supports experienced Underwriters in reviewing and analyzing risks, applying research and analytical skills to assess risk and grow your career.

The position is hybrid; the successful candidate will work from one of our North American offices in Phoenix, AZ.

Responsibilities

Review, evaluate, and summarize risk exposures, controls, loss history, and financial condition to assist underwriting decisions on submission acceptance or declination.

Follow instructions from Underwriters in areas of policy rating, subjective pricing, policy construction, coverages & exclusions, mandatory forms, etc., to accurately quote and issue policies.

Provide account servicing support in collaboration with Underwriters and Managers, handling end‑to‑end servicing processes for new business, renewals, and endorsements for basic to moderately complex business and products.

Respond to written, verbal, and telephone inquiries promptly under close supervision by Underwriters and/or Managers, working collaboratively with assigned Underwriters.

Support Underwriters with broker, agent, distributor, and customer interactions by providing basic customer service skills.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and no prior experience in the Administrative, Customer Service, Financial Services, Risk Management, or Insurance area

Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and no prior experience in the Administrative, Customer Service, Financial Services, Risk Management, or Insurance area

High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Administrative, Customer Service, Financial Services, Risk Management, or Insurance area

Knowledge of data collection and analysis

Preferred Qualifications

Insurance industry knowledge

Knowledge of processing, rating and policy management systems used in the insurance industry

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Superior skills in relationship building, active listening with customers and coworkers

Enjoys working with details and providing accurate data in a timely manner

Self‑directed to meet deadlines

5% travel required

Compensation and Benefits The pay range for this position is $48,609.60 – $70,000.00, plus a short‑term incentive bonus of 5%. Additional benefits include competitive pay and comprehensive benefits for employees and their families.
