A growing, quality-focused metals manufacturing company is seeking a Working Production Supervisor to lead second shift operations and support daily production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This role is ideal for a leader who thrives on the shop floor, works side-by-side with production teams, and takes ownership of safety, quality, and results. Reporting to the Senior Production Supervisor, this position plays a key role in maintaining efficiency, compliance, and employee engagement.

Schedule & Shift Details:

* On-site by 2:00 PM for the daily 2:30 PM production meeting

* Shift Hours: 3:00 PM - 1:30 AM

* Days: 5-6 days per week

* Overtime: Paid after 40 hours

Position Overview:

The Working Production Supervisor oversees second shift production while remaining actively involved in daily operations. This hands-on leadership role requires a strong presence on the floor, the ability to operate equipment, and consistent enforcement of safety and quality standards.

Work Environment & Time Allocation:

* Approximately 50% operating a sit-down propane forklift

* 90% of the time is spent on the production floor

* 10% administrative and reporting responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

Safety, Quality & Compliance:

* Enforce Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) policies

* Maintain compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) standards

* Conduct daily forklift and crane inspections and submit required documentation

* Perform respirator inspections and verify employee compliance

* Ensure required safety logs and reports are completed and submitted

* Support incident investigations and corrective action implementation

Production & Operations:

* Supervise and support production functions including:

* Mill operations

* Decoil and roll-up processes

* Saw operations

* Packaging and scrap handling

* Step into production roles as needed to maintain workflow

* Coordinate daily production priorities with senior leadership

* Verify completed work meets specifications, measurements, and schedules

Reporting & Documentation:

* Monitor attendance, break compliance, and labor utilization

* Complete daily production reports accurately and on time

* Identify material shortages and document corrective actions

* Perform weekly inventory counts and submit supply requests

Leadership & Workforce Management:

* Adjust manpower assignments based on production demands

* Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback

* Participate in hiring, reviews, and employee development discussions

* Initiate corrective actions in alignment with company policy

Facility & Housekeeping:

* Maintain housekeeping and safety standards across the facility

* Oversee end-of-shift cleanup and documentation

* Secure the facility at shift end

* Verify proper scrap segregation and loading accuracy

Qualifications:

* High school diploma or GED

* 3-5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing or production

* Sit-down propane forklift operation experience (required)

* Overhead crane experience preferred

* Ability to wear a respirator

* Strong math, communication, and leadership skills

* Ability to read a tape measure and read/write in English

* Working knowledge of OSHA regulations

* Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
