Construction Project Manager - Institutional Education Projects
Location: Sacramento, CA
Compensation: $124,499 - $184,499
Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Construction Project Manager to lead multiple institutional education projects for a reputable general contractor based in Sacramento. This position plays a critical role in overseeing all phases of project execution, with a strong emphasis on commercial and institutional developments, particularly those involving DSA (Division of the State Architect) and OSHPD (Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development) compliance.
Must Haves
* Proven experience as a Project Manager for a General Contractor.
* Direct experience working with DSA (Division of the State Architect) and/or OSHPD (Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development) on regulated education projects
* Demonstrated success in K-12 project delivery, especially in hard bid and lease-leaseback formats
* Strong knowledge of California building codes and regulatory requirements
* Track record of successfully leading multidisciplinary project teams
* Strong contract administration skills with owners, architects, subcontractors, and vendors
* Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and financial reporting
* Proficient in risk management, contract negotiations, and pricing decisions
* Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills
* Proven ability to enforce safety protocols and ensure site compliance
* Authorization to work in the United States
Nice to Haves
* Familiarity with scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera)
* Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical degree
* LEED accreditation or experience on LEED-certified projects
* Bilingual English/Spanish
Responsibilities
* Lead, direct, and coordinate the overall management of multiple construction projects
* Supervise, train, coach, and mentor project teams to achieve high performance
* Provide regular feedback and complete staff performance reviews on schedule
* Administer all project contracts and subcontracts in line with company and client requirements
* Foster and enhance positive working relationships with owners, architects, consultants, and subcontractors
* Develop, update, and communicate master project schedules and manage their implementation
* Administer projects delivered through hard bid and lease-leaseback (L/LB) methods, especially within K-12 education sectors.
* Collaborate with pre-construction teams in the planning and development of new projects
* Maintain efficient information flow and documentation procedures across all stakeholders
* Manage project budgets and financials, ensuring accurate tracking and adherence to budget targets
* Prepare and review project financial status reports and oversee pay application processes
* Provide leadership in risk assessment, change order management, and dispute resolution
* Drive enforcement of all safety policies and ensure compliance by all site personnel
* Oversee and coordinate all field operations, engineering, and construction processes
* Ensure timely completion and quality delivery of all project milestones
* Keep senior management informed of project progress and financial status through regular reporting and review meetings
