Job Summary
Works under minimal supervision to provide responsible technical assistance in the performance of assignments requiring basic knowledge of techniques and practices related to the field of science. The candidate will do lab supply ordering, order tracking and follow‑up for several basic science labs; arrange lab travel and coordinate expense reimbursements; coordinate with the Neuroscience Department on Joint Seminar Series; maintain core equipment and shared research spaces including dishwasher/autoclaves, incubators, chemical benches, cold room and tissue culture spaces; ship hazardous materials; coordinate weekly PYN social hour; assist with onboarding new division employees; reconcile lab expense purchases and outstanding encumbrances; and other duties as assigned.

Required – Experience and Education
Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in the field of assignment (no experience required) or two (2) years of college with emphasis in coursework in the field of assignment or high school diploma or GED equivalent.
No experience required with Bachelor’s degree; two (2) years of laboratory experience at the level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with two (2) years of college.
Four (4) years of laboratory experience including two years at the level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with high school graduation or GED equivalent.
Job Duties
Performs routine scientific and medical research work in areas such as biology, chemistry, physics, or other related scientific field.
Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.
Records research data in accordance with prescribed procedures, discussing results with supervisor.
Assists in collection of data for project reports.
Reads literature and confers with supervisor concerning implementation of new procedures.
May plan for, and provide working supervision to, work of laboratory personnel of lower grade engaged in limited phases of the research project.
Performs other duties as assigned.
