ESD-Floor Care Tech – Day Shift FT 7‑3:30pm, EO Wknd & Holidays
Position/Dept Summary:
Working in Environmental Services makes you an integral part of our hospital. You’ll work with diverse employees and see all aspects of our hospital functions while ensuring that your colleagues have a clean and safe environment to treat our patients properly. Schedule:
7‑3:30pm Monday through Friday and every other weekend and holidays.
Key Responsibilities
Perform hard floor care: dust mops, damp mops, stripping, waxing, and refinishing floors; spray buffing.
Clean carpets and furniture: vacuuming, spot removal, and shampoos.
Clean and maintain assigned areas including stairwells and elevators.
Operate electric and battery‑powered equipment for cleaning services and rearranging furniture/equipment.
Pick up supplies and pack regulated medical waste.
Wear protective clothing as required (e.g., surgery dress code, medical waste packing, ribavirin and/or isolation precautions, etc.).
Respond to floods and other emergencies, drying and cleaning facilities and equipment as directed.
Use equipment to respond to emergencies as directed and in accordance with hospital and department protocols to ensure personal and environmental safety is protected.
Education & Experience
Minimum of 6 months of experience as a floor‑care technician level 1 or equivalent experience.
Ability to operate powered machinery in a safe and effective manner.
Ability to read and understand written instructions in English.
Ability to understand and respond to moderately complex written or verbal instructions in English.
Ability to respond appropriately to instructions, questions, or requests for information; work requires contact with patients and/or visitors which involves courtesy.
Ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies.
Environmental Service positions are currently eligible for a sign‑on bonus of $1,000.
Base pay range:
$14.37/hr – $21.27/hr.
