3rd Shift Steel Warehouse Material Handler/Overhead Crane Operator
Position Summary
A Warehouse Material Handler performs a variety of warehousing duties, requiring an understanding of the Company’s storage plan. Responsibilities include verifying materials against receiving and shipping documents, reporting discrepancies, routing material to storage locations, taking inventory, examining stored materials, and preparing items for shipment. The role may also involve operating equipment to stage, locate, or process materials for shipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Accurately locate and identify stock for storage and retrieval using scanner when appropriate.
Safely operate related machinery and equipment.
Properly identify, scan, and process paperwork necessary for material handling.
Correctly load and unload trucks and verify loads with delivery tickets and scanner.
Properly tag, band, and package material for shipment.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Always be helpful and courteous to all customers and employees.
Perform other duties as related or assigned for the benefit of the Company.
Good attendance is an essential function of this job.
Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Previous shipping and receiving experience is helpful. Overhead crane and forklift experience preferred. Must be able to read a tape measure.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to work as a team member without close supervision to meet Company and personal goals.
Capable of reading a tape measure, calipers, and orders.
Able to recognize different colors.
Good reading, writing, and math skills as measured by a pre‑employment test.
Ability to meet physical demands of the position, which require lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing, pulling, standing, and climbing 95% of the work day.
