Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist who can exhibit proficiency in blood collection by venipuncture and capillary technique from patients of all age groups. This role requires expertise in pediatric blood collections and handling difficult draws, particularly in medical office buildings. A comprehensive understanding of compliance and safety is essential, as well as the ability to effectively communicate these principles to other employees. The successful candidate will also possess the skills necessary to provide orientation and training for patient service technicians. All interactions with minors will be supervised by a supervisor or RN.
Responsibilities
Perform blood collection by venipuncture and capillary techniques.
Conduct pediatric blood collections and manage difficult draws.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and communicate their importance.
Provide orientation and training to patient service technicians.
Supervise interactions with minors alongside a supervisor or RN.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques, including venipuncture and capillary methods.
Experience in neonatal and pediatric blood collection.
Comprehensive knowledge of compliance and safety protocols.
Ability to train and orient new patient service technicians.
Experience with Cerner or similar lab systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma.
CPT 1 License.
Computer literacy and experience with lab systems.
Strong customer service skills.
Availability for an on-call schedule, averaging 32 hours per week (24-40 hours range).
Work Environment Work will be conducted in outpatient clinics within the Coachella Valley, including locations in Palm Desert, Palm Springs, and Indio.
